Happy Easter!

Today is a beautiful spring day. It's sunny and bright. A gorgeous blue sky with playful clouds. It's a mild temperature today, 7 degrees Celsius.

And it's Easter Sunday.

Easter is a time of the year when Mother Nature fully awakens from her winter slumber. Nature doesn't wake up from her deep sleep instantly, but rather she takes time in stages to come back to life.

To me, the very first sign of spring is March 1st, the first calendaristic day of spring. The winter months are over, and March is the month that officially marks the beginning of spring.

Then the daylight saving hour comes along during the second weekend of March -- in North America at least. We move the clocks one hour ahead to make a better use of the daylight. Now we SEEM to have longer days, the afternoons are sunnier now, and we have the opportunity to be more productive and to accomplish more during the bright hours of the day.

The Equinox on March 21st is the next step that Nature takes when changing seasons. She is more awaken now. The days and nights are now equal, ready to start their summer dance.

And finally, Easter. The time of the year when Mother Earth is fully awaken. The time of the year when the trees and flowers are in full bloom, when spring is finally here in all her warm and blossomed splendor.

May the miracle of Easter fill your heart with love and peace, and may the Easter bunny bring you lots of joy and happiness this year. Wishing you and your dear ones a wonderful day of hope, renewal, and blessings.

Happy Easter everyone!

Review – Oteas Tea

When it comes to hot beverages, coffee is usually my favorite, but many a weeknight I will prefer a good cup of tea before sleep. I have tried many different brands and flavours of tea before, and I found many of them to my liking. Of course, the tea market is not short of tasty flavours. Earl Grey has always been my favourite tea, but I also love fruit teas, and sometimes I will have a camomile tea to help me sleep better. My usual sweetener for coffee and tea is honey rather than sugar, honey being much healthier than sugar. And when it comes to tea, depending on the flavour, I prefer my tea with honey and lemon juice, and sometimes just honey.

Oteas is another great tea on the market. I first found out about Oteas last year, at a TIFF gift lounge event in Toronto. This annual event is called Bask-It-Style and its mission is to gift celebrities who come to TIFF every year with products from an array of high-profile sponsors from different industries -- fashion, beauty, publishing, technology, exquisite foods and beverages, and other industries. I have attended Bask-It-Style event every year since 2012. This year however, the event was postponed due of Covid.

For many of us, a big part of our life in 2020 happened at home and online. I have worked from home ever since the pandemic started in March, and I have not attended any fashion events in Toronto this year. So instead of getting together at parties and events, we keep in touch with friends and extended family online. The case is the same for writers and bloggers who keep in touch with their favourite brands online, since the fashion events are no longer happening like they used to up until last year.

Recently Oteas sent me a box of tea to try it. The box is called Fan Favourites, and it includes 25 tea bags, 5 flavours.
The 5 flavours are:
-Strawberries and Cream
-Raspberry Leaf
-Organic Earl Grey
-Organic Green Tea with Peppermint
-Organic Lemongrass, Ginger and Cinnamon.

But besides the 5 flavours that come in the box, Oteas team also included 7 other tea samples for me in the package:
-Organic Lemongrass, Apple and Hibiscus
-Organic Rooibos Vanilla
-Berry Blend
-Orange and Ginger
-Black Tea with Caramel
-English Breakfast Tea
-Moroccan Mint.
I allowed myself a couple of weeks to try the various flavours of Oteas tea; I still haven’t tried all of them, but I did try more than half of the flavours so far. This is a really good tea and I totally enjoyed it! The taste is smooth, rich and intense, Oteas is a great cup of tea for a cozy evening at home. I can honestly say, without any hesitation or exaggeration, that I loved all Oteas flavours that I have tried so far. This is an amazing tea. As I write this, I am having a cup of Berry Blend, another lovely Oteas flavour.
So what’s so great about Oteas tea? For all the tea lovers, Oteas is brewing something special with their limited edition Fan Favourites tea combo-pack. When I was sent this box of tea, I got my taste buds ready for these unique blends of tea. From sweet to spicy and aromatically energizing, these special blends are nestled in plant based packaging and biodegradable tea bags. Good for you and the planet. The Fan Favourite selection is inspired by the fans of films at TIFF. I couldn’t attend TIFF this year as in previous years, but when I have a movie night on a Saturday night with my family, I can pick an Oteas blend, steep and enjoy the film!

Oteas is environment friendly. A conscious awakening has occurred across the globe. Great taste, and far less waste is what modern grocery consumers want. Oteas believes that in order to elevate our human health, our physical environment should not have to be compromised. The company is committed to using high quality hand blended ingredients, and 100% plant-based packaging. This commitment puts Oteas in a league of their own as a quality tea 100% plastic free, biodegradable and a true zero waste consumer product.

The Oteas boxes are recyclable and reusable, following Forest Stewardship Council standards. Forest Stewardship Council sets high standards to make sure that forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible manner. The boxes are also printed with vegetable ink, and they can be recycled or composted without concern of chemicals from printing. I am actually thinking to reuse this beautiful box as a gift box for Christmas or someone’s birthday. I could decorate it with some scrapbook paper and turn it into a gift box, for a small gift like cookies, chocolate or a candle.

The biofilm envelope of the tea bag is certified as home compostable. It completely decomposes into water and carbon dioxide. The time it takes to decompose depends on temperature, soil PH and the amount of microorganisms present.

And finally, the tea bag, the string and the tag are 100% biodegradable, they will biodegrade over time as the tea bag is made out of corn starch.

Oteas tea also makes a great gift, I would include a few tea bags in an organza sachet like this one and make a small gift with Oteas tea to include it in a Christmas basket for a dear one.
Ingredients of the 5 teas in the Fan Favourites box (as detailed on the package):
Strawberries and Cream
Hibiscus Rose hip peel
Apple pieces
Apple slices
Orange peels
Strawberry pieces

Raspberry Leaf
Raspberry leaves
Apple pieces
Light hibiscus
Rose hip peels
Raspberries
Blackberry leaves
Sweet blackberry leaves

Organic Earl Grey
Black tea
Cornflower Essence of bergamot

Organic Green Tea with Peppermint
Organic green tea
Peppermint Organic

Lemongrass, Ginger and Cinnamon (all organic ingredients)
Lemongrass
Ginger
Cinnamon pieces
Spearmint leaves
Fennel
Liquorice root
Pineapple pieces
Orange peels
Basil leaves
Orange slices
Cloves
Pink pepper
Pink corn flowers.

Give Oteas a try, you will love it for sure! I still have enough tea bags left in my box, so I will definitely enjoy this delightful tea over the upcoming holiday season.

Ten Great Youtube Videos of All Times

For today's story I would like to feature ten great Youtube videos that I have loved over the time, from different years of Youtube existence. These are some of the most watched videos ever since Youtube was created, some of them with dozens of millions of views and thousands of comments. I still get a kick from watching every single one of them, even after so many years. You probably know some of them too.

Enjoy the show!

1. Christmas lights gone wild, 2005, 11 million views
I remember this was one of the first Youtube videos that I have ever watched. The synchrony of this light show is absolutely incredible and pure perfection.

2. Jill and Kevin's big day, 2009, 100 million views
This viral video was originally uploaded to Youtube on July 19, 2009, featuring the wedding of Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz, using Forever by Chris Brown as the song for their wedding march. In its first 48 hours, the video accumulated more than 3.5 million views. The original upload of the video was the third most popular video on Youtube in 2009. Time magazine ranked the video at number fifteen on its list of the fifty greatest Youtube videos. The video was so successful that it now has its own Wikipedia page. I don't know Jill and Kevin, but I hope they are still together, happily ever after, and maybe with a couple of kids by now. Thank you Jill and Kevin for sharing this wonderful video with the world, to the amusement of millions of viewers.

3. The Office wedding, 2019, 4 million views

Probably the best beer commercial in the world. It never gets old, and it cracks me up every single time when I watch it. ☺

7. Jeep Grand Cherokee commercial, 2008, 137K views
Another hilarious commercial. As it happens, I owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee at the time when this video was posted on Youtube. I no longer own the Jeep though, I now drive an electric car.

The Value of a Sheet of Paper (And a Stationery Haul)

I am an avid collector and user of fine stationery. I love agendas, journals, notebooks, notepads, sticky notes, deco paper, letter paper, pens and writing accessories, greeting cards, gift wrapping stationery, all things paper. I have an impressive collection of all kinds of fine stationery in my home office, and I love it so much that I tend to purchase more than I have time to use.

In these times of acute environment issues that we as the human race are facing, I learned to respect and love paper as it had a soul of its own, and not just as a random commodity. To me, paper isn't simply a random commodity, but a valuable asset. To me, respecting paper is respecting the tree that it came from, and furthermore the environment that we live in. Remember, we only have one planet. If she's gone, we all are gone -- gotta be conscious about that, right?

As such, I have learned over time to appreciate paper to its fullest value, and I use it to its full potential without wasting any of it. To me, paper is a valuable asset not be wasted, as I always remember the tree. Each sheet of paper, each greeting card and each notebook are meant to deliver a message of love, and I will never discard it before it does its job and delivers the message.

Just think what a piece of paper can do.
  • Writing handwritten letters to your penpals;
  • Writing holiday cards to friends and family;
  • Wrapping gifts for your loved ones;
  • Jotting down your thoughts in a journal;
  • Keeping your memories alive.
And I love to do all these things with fine stationery. Among my favorite places to buy fine stationery in the City of Toronto are Indigo, Winners, Marshalls, HomeSense, Dollarama, Dollar Tree. When I go to any of these stores, I like to immerse myself in their stationery aisle, and if I could, I would never leave! And when I do leave, my shopping bag will be full of stationery!

But I also love to thrift for stationery. I love the stationery and office aisle in a thrift store just as much as I love the stationery aisle from Indigo. Remember the tree? Thrifting for stationery is a great way to save a tree, not to mention the treasure hunt which is so thrilling. Why let all that precious paper go to waste, when it can get a second life on someone else's desk. To me a thrifted notebook, if it's still in good condition, is just as good as a notebook that comes from Indigo or Marshalls.

I also love using online stationery, and PaperlessPost.com is a great resource for those who prefer all things digital. I discovered PaperlessPost.com two years ago, and I came to appreciate this online stationery website for its variety and endless choices. Sometimes it's just easier to say it online, isn't it? The online stationery and greeting cards from PaperlessPost.com are great for that.

And here's my newest stationery haul, all things paper that I love so much. Some of these notebooks and journals have already been written, some of them have been given as gifts to friends, some of them are still awaiting in my home office to be filled with precious memories. Some of them came new, some of them are thrifted.

Karate Tournament in Burlington, Ontario, Canada

My son Alex is a karate student, he is 9 years old, he has been doing karate since he was 7, and currently he holds a blue belt in karate which is about half-way toward the black belt in karate. He participated in a friendship karate tournament this past May, and he got the 4th place in the tournament, as well as his first medal in karate. I was really proud of him. 😊 This was his second karate tournament that he has ever participated at. The first one was last year in June, in Windsor (a Canadian city in the South of Canada, close to the border with the United States), at that time he had a green belt in karate which is the previous belt before the blue belt; but at that tournament he didn't get a medal and he was disappointed. So this time, when he got his first medal in karate at the tournament in Burlington, it was a really great experience for him.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

My dear friends and readers, I would like to wish you a fabulous holiday season and a very Merry Christmas! May all your wishes come true, and may you and your loved ones be blessed with love, happiness, well-being and all the best in the world!

I will spend this holiday season with my family at home. The Christmas tree is already decorated, and my son is very excited about Santa coming to town. I am about to start cooking the turkey and the other Christmas dishes, and we are looking forward to spending a peaceful holiday season at home -- enjoying some time off from work, watching Christmas movies, unwinding after so much hard work this year. I have also been busy sending out my Christmas wishes to friends, both online and on Christmas cards by mail.

I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful holiday season.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Yours truly,
Victoria West

[Guest Story] What Is Email List Cleaning and How Does It Work?

In today's story I would like to introduce you to Emma from MyEmma.com, an email marketing platform that teaches you how to build solid and convincing email marketing campaigns, and which gives you all the tools you need to send out email campaigns that really connect with your subscribers.

If you are a business owner, one of the ways to promote your business is to send out email campaigns. I myself receive dozens of marketing emails from businesses from all areas -- my favorite fashion websites and online magazines that I am a subscriber to, my gym, beauty boxes, marketing emails from fashion designers, my Public Relations contacts, my son's school and the district school board, but also unsubscribed to newsletters and emails from various online stores which I usually delete right away.

Today's story on my blog will be a guest post by MyEmma.com in which Emma teaches us about email list cleaning. I find myself at the receiving end of marketing emails as I receive all those emails on a daily basis; but the story that I am sharing with you today is an email marketing guide for those who own businesses and who use email as a strategy to promote their business, regardless the area of their activity.

So, without further ado, if you own a business and if you send out marketing emails to your customers in order to promote your business, then the following blog post will provide you with useful tips and advice and will help you improve your email marketing practices.

What Is Email List Cleaning and How Does It Work?

Is it time to give your email list a good scrubbing?

If you’ve got a bunch of people receiving your emails but not engaging, then chances are it could be in need of a refresh.

In this article, you’ll find out why it’s so important to keep your list sparkling clean and exactly how to sanitize that list for best results.

Let's get to it!

How do you know if your list needs to be scrubbed?

The first sign that your list is scrub-worthy will show up in your metrics, specifically open and click rates.

If you can see a decline in these over your last few email campaigns, then you might have a build-up of unsubscribers and disengaged individuals.

Now, check out your spam complaint and unsubscribe rate. Do you see an increase there? Bingo. You found it!

And, unfortunately, if your subscribers aren’t opening or clicking, then they also aren’t being converted into customers.

Even worse, if they’re tired of getting your emails and flagging you as spam, then they can be impacting your deliverability to the people on your list who do want to hear from you.

How does email list cleaning work to change your lagging metrics? Read on to discover the benefits of regular list cleaning.

Why clean your email list?

When you don't take care of something the way you should, it usually becomes unhealthy. Your email list is no different.

A build-up of unengaged subscribers in your list means you’re wasting valuable time, marketing energy, and -- here’s the big one -- revenue marketing to people who just aren’t interested.

And, since email list churn (or subscribers who bounce, report you as spam, or never even open your emails) can eat through up to 30% of your list each year, it’s important to stay on top of things.

This means doing a once-over email list cleaning a few times each year. Like many tasks that involve housekeeping, this might seem like a pain, but it’s really worth the effort in the long-run.

Let’s look at what good email list cleaning can accomplish for your marketing strategy:

1. Better click and open rates

Click and open rates are percentages calculated from the total number of emails sent. Here are some examples of target click and open rates by industry.

While this list gives you something to shoot for, you also want to keep a close eye on your metrics to see trends and fluctuations caused by changes in your strategy and other industry and marketing trends.

Removing the non-openers and non-clickers by cleaning your list increases the number of people who are participating versus the number you’re sending.

And even though these are the same people that were clicking and opening before, your clean list has just done one very important thing -- removed the people who are reporting you as spam.

Google, Yahoo, and other email providers keep track of spam complaints and if you’ve gotten too many, they’ll start sending your stuff straight to the spam folder -- even for the people who want to get your emails!

This is a major problem for email marketers, and deliverability has been declining due to this very problem.

Reducing spam complaints helps your emails make it to the inboxes that want them and improves your sender reputation with email providers.

2. Reduced bounce numbers

Bounced emails are just as bad for your reputation -- and your email’s deliverability -- as spam complaints. A bounced email happens because a receiver’s inbox is full, there’s an error in their address, or sometimes it's just a technical error. Either way, you want to keep your percentage of these down to keep your deliverability up.

3. Cost reduction

Depending on how you’re sending emails, there are hard costs associated with keeping unengaged subscribers on your list.

Most email services charge according to how many emails you’re sending or how many subscribers you have. If you’re sending a number of emails to people who don’t want them, you’re wasting marketing dollars.

Reducing your list to only those people who are engaged can help improve your overall marketing return-on-investment (ROI).

4. Increased revenue

Having a clean list means your email marketing campaign materials are going out to people who are engaged. This allows you to more fully understand if your marketing strategy is working, and how to tweak it if it isn’t.

In turn, a more accurately targeted campaign will convert more subscribers into customers, increasing your revenue and your ROI.

Now, let’s get to the nitty-gritty of email list cleaning tactics.

How does email list cleaning work?

Okay, you’ve determined your list is a bit dusty and you’re ready to shine it up. What do you need to do to get the best results?

1. Get rid of the no-action subscribers.

If someone is on your list but never opens your emails, remove them from the list. They’re not getting your messages anyway, so why let them skew your metrics and potentially increase your emailing costs?

2. Keep an eye on syntax errors.

Someone with fat thumbs typed in their email address as “@mgail” instead of “@gmail” and now you’ve got an inactive email. Or, you might have addresses with extra spaces and unsupported characters. Check for obvious syntax errors where you can. Some email cleaning services offer this option and will do it via software.

3. Determine low-activity subscribers.

If you’re sending emails weekly and some of your subscribers are opening them once a month, you may still want to email that person -- just not as often. Email lists take time to build, and you don’t want to lose a subscriber who may still be interested. However, you want to be sure you don’t get spam complaints, either, so you’ll want to limit your contact. Once you determine your low-activity subscribers, you can move them to a separate list that gets targeted communications less often.

4. Target re-engagement

Low-activity subscribers might still want to engage. Send them an email letting them know you want to reconnect and asking them to click a confirmation button if they’re interested.

While this Teespring example is focused on website engagement, it would be easy to parlay this into an email list reconnection email.

If you send a re-engagement email and your subscribers don’t respond, only email them with a critical product or event news in the future. If they do respond, remind them to whitelist your email address to keep your emails out of their spam folder, which may have been the reason they were disengaged in the first place.

5. Determine why subscribers left.

To keep your marketing on track, you’ll want to know why people are leaving your list. Did you:

  • Email too often?
  • Not email enough?
  • Not provide quality content?
  • Not provide content targeted to them?
  • Not provide value?

Your list could have fallen prey to any of these shortcomings, or your subscribers may just be suffering from inbox overload and decided to shut everyone down. Either way, knowing why people are opting out is critical for the health of your list in the future. To ensure you know why people are leaving, make sure there’s an opt-out query attached to your “unsubscribe” feature on your emails.

This one is basic, but it gives you the general idea. Allowing subscribers to let you know their reasons for unsubscribing will only help you fine-tune your content and communications for better ROI.

Wrap up

Now you know that keeping your email list sparkling is a great way to increase your ROI, get a better grip on your performance metrics, save money, and make sure your email marketing strategy is on target.

In addition, a properly-maintained list will cut down on spam complaints and bounces to keep your brand’s reputation as clean and shiny as your list.

Be diligent in maintaining your email list properly, conducting maintenance several times per year -- or whenever you notice those opens and clicks dropping off.

By keeping your list full of engaged subscribers who are interested in what you’re sending, you’ll build a strong list of passionate, loyal customers. You know, the kind that gives email marketing the amazing reputation for ROI that it so richly deserves.

Two Years on Instagram

I joined Instagram two years ago, and so every year September marks my Instagram anniversary. I love this social media platform for the inspiration that one can find here, it's really amazing. Sometimes throughout the day when I need a little break, I will just open my Instagram and flip through pictures from my favorite profiles and hashtags, which will give me a little boost of energy, and then I can go on with my day.

At the beginning when I just started my Instagram profile back in September 2016, I struggled to find my own Instagram style. I tried different things and different ways of taking and posting pictures, to see what is the most me. I felt inspired by a few Instagram profiles and I tried to follow their style in the hope that I can do what they can do, but it didn't work for me. For instance, I tried to create a profile made of pictures on white background, but I failed. Then I tried a cream/beige background, and I also failed, as color inevitably kept making its way into my Insta pictures. So after a while I just stopped struggling and let it be, and for the next while my Instagram profile has been very colorful. Also, at some point in time I concluded that I don't like to post orchestrated and directed pictures, but rather truly instantaneous pictures, because this is what Instagram is all about anyway, isn't it? The instant beauty of the moment. Capture the moment and share it. So this is what I do now -- I capture the true moment without trying to orchestrate it, and share it on Instagram. Please don't get me wrong -- I do love those pictures that I can see have been prepped to be posted on Instagram, because they are so beautifully taken and inspiring. It's obvious how much effort has been put in them, and one can't but appreciate the effort and the perfection of it. It's just not working for me -- I feel much freer to take instantaneous pictures when a beautiful moment comes by and I capture it, rather than trying to reach absolute perfection by prepping the photo.

Finally, now I can say that I have found my style on Instagram -- travel pictures on sky blue background. I am sky blue now. 😊 I travel a lot, both in Canada and outside, and during this past year I took a lot of beautiful pictures from my travels which I enjoyed sharing on Instagram. Now that I have found my theme, the next challenge to overcome is how I organize my pictures on my Insta profile to have a content flow that makes sense and that tells my story. Still working on it. 😊

Today I would like to share some of the most appreciated photos on my Instagram account during this past year, but also a few of my personal favorites; and of course, the story behind each of these photos. I hope you will enjoy them. 😊

Please don't hesitate to follow me on my Instagram page! 😊
Lake Erie, June 2018
This is the most appreciated picture on my Instagram profile over the last 12 months, and I absolutely love it. It was taken on the shore of Lake Erie, one of the five Great Lakes. I made a trip to Lake Erie this summer, for the birthday party of a friend. The party was really great and we spent a fabulous weekend on the shore of Lake Erie -- the beach, the water, the boat, the friends, the summer, we enjoyed it all.
Cuba, March 2018

Cuba, March 2018
These five photos, also among the most liked photos on my Instagram profile this year, are from Cuba where I vacationed this March. I loved and enjoyed every single minute of it, and the beach and the ocean were by far my favorite parts of the vacation. When I go to Caribbean, I don't really care about anything else but the beach and embracing the sun. Give me a beach, give me white sand, give me sun, give me salt water, give me a hot shore on the Atlantic Ocean, and I'm happy.
Toronto, July 2018
Toronto, July 2018
Two photos of Downtown Toronto taken this summer. The second photo is taken from the heights of CN Tower that I visited this July, after 11 years since I last went up there in the summer of 2007.
Niagara Falls, June 2018
Niagara Falls -- another trip that I made this summer with my family.
February 2018
A typical winter day in Canada. 😊 Although this wintery photo is contrasting with all the other summery ones that I am featuring in my today's story, it has also been among the most liked pictured on my Instagram feed this past year.

And a few of my personal favorites:
Cuba, March 2018
Vacationing in Cuba this past March. The most exciting experience during this vacation has been swimming with dolphins -- amazing creatures. This dolphin's name is Dana and she is 26 years old. I kissed her a lot while swimming with her. 😊
Cuba, March, 2018
Another favorite of mine from Cuba this year -- enjoying the beach.
Windsor, June 2018
I traveled to Windsor this summer in June, a Canadian city bordering the United States and facing the city of Detroit, with Detroit River between them. This photo was taken in Windsor, on the shore of Detroit River, with a view of the Detroit skyscrapers across the river.
Fenelon Falls, November 2017
I took this photo in Fenelon Falls, a small town in the cottage country, when I was coming back to Toronto from my own cottage in Minden, another town in the cottage country. My family and I stopped at a restaurant in Fenelon Falls to have lunch, and I took this picture from the restaurant, with the view of the waterfalls. The town is called Fenelon Falls because of the Fenelon waterfalls.
Toronto, July 2018
CN Tower, Downtown Toronto -- the perfect shot! The sky blue of this photo is unfiltered, this is how the sky in Toronto really looked that day, I absolutely love this shot.

My Instagram is blue now. 😊 I hope you enjoyed the photos!

Review: Online Stationery from Paperless Post

I am an avid lover and user of stationery. I love paper and anything paper, but beyond paper itself, I love that it helps you send the message of love to your dear ones, when you want them to know how much they mean to you. I used to love writing and sending hand-written letters to my friends by mail in the pre-internet days. I still love writing and sending out handwritten cards to my friends and family for holidays. I am a long time journaler and I have been journaling on paper for decades, a habit that I still keep today, even though I also spend quite a lot of my time online, including writing this blog. My home office is a haven of stationery -- greeting cards for all possible occasions, envelopes of all sizes and for all purposes, notebooks for my journaling, pens, paper, wrapping gift stationery, and anything else in between.

But besides paper stationery, online stationery is also available to us in an array of options. It is the internet era after all, isn't it? Just like any other aspect of our lives, when we went from analog to digital in everything over the last generation, the world of stationery has done the same -- going from analog to digital, from paper to paperless.

Recently I discovered a wonderful source of digital (aka paperless) stationery, Paperless Post. It's a website where you can create and design your own stationery, and send the message of love to your friends and family. How does it work? The trading currency on Paperless Post is the coin, which can be purchased on the website, in any desired amount. You have the option of creating and designing your own stationery -- that is cards for any occasions, and you use coins as means of payment to send those cards to your recipients. Free cards that don't require coins are also available on the platform.

You can send out cards from Paperless Post using an array of available designs to create and customize your own stationery, to your liking, for absolutely any occasion. The entire online stationery on Paperless Post is grouped in 7 big categories -- Graduation, Birthday, Wedding, Parties, Professional, Cards with other themes, Flyer. And each of these categories have subcategories with dozens and dozens samples of stationery and cards you can choose from. For instance, under Birthday cards, we can find general birthday cards, birthday cards for her, birthday cards for him, and even belated birthday cards! Under Parties, we can find invitation cards for all types of parties -- dinner parties, cocktail parties, graduation parties, farewell parties, baby showers, baptism parties, first communion, and many-many more.

Another section full of inspiration on Paperless Post is the designer stationery. Paperless Post partner with the world's best designers, fashion houses, lifestyle brands and independent stationers to bring you distinctive designs for any occasion or style. Among the designers and brands who collaborate with Paperless Post to create exquisite online stationery are Kate Spade, Mary Katrantzou, Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Charlotte Olympia, The New Yorker, and others.

I also noticed another exciting section on Paperless Post -- design your own stationery, where you can upload your own designs (photos), an option that allows you to get even more creative!

And for those who still prefer paper stationery like back in the days, Paper Source section on the website is what you need -- greeting cards for all occasions and holidays, craft paper, personalized stationery, gift wrapping, journals, planners, and much more.

I have a certain amount of coins available in my Paperless Post account that I can use to send cards to my dear ones. First time when I accessed the website, I browsed all categories and styles of paperless cards, and I sent a few cards to some of my friends, just to cheer up their day. I loved it! The designing process is very easy to follow, and you can create your perfect card to send to someone dear to you in mere moments. You can create so much beauty on Paperless Post, that my only regret about it is that I didn't know about it sooner! Most certainly I will come back to Paperless Post to create more exquisite online stationery.

Happy Jar 2017

I am a long time journaler, and I practice positive journaling. One of the ways I write positive journaling is the Happy Jar. For those of you who don't know what Happy Jar means, it's a way to keep track of all your happy moments throughout the year. Each Sunday, at the end of the week, you reflect about what has happened during that week, you make a note of the happiest moment of your week, and you put that little note in a jar, hence the name of Happy Jar. And so at the end of the year you have 52 notes in your Happy Jar with 52 happiest moments and events that you have had during the entire year. On New Year's Eve you open the Happy Jar, you read all those 52 happy notes, and you can see for yourself what an amazing, fabulous and happy year you have had.

I started my first Happy Jar last year, in January 2017, and I found the inspiration for it on Instagram. Each Sunday of 2017 I took a minute to reflect about my week, what has happened during that week, and what made me happy during those 7 days -- this way a new happy note would go into my Happy Jar.
The jar is an actual glass jar that I repurposed from my grocery shopping, and I gave it some flare by decorating it a little bit
And then a year later, that is in January 2018, I took all my notes out, I put them in order from 1 to 52, and I read all of them. And I could see for myself what a happy and awesome year I have had.
Now, the Happy Jar tradition says you're supposed to open your Happy Jar on New Year's Eve and read all your happy notes of the year that goes away. However I didn't quite follow the tradition of the Happy Jar as it says, because I hosted the New Year's Eve party at my place this past holiday season, I had guests coming over, and on December 31st I was busy cooking and cleaning the house in preparation for the New Year's party. As such, I didn't have any time for anything else besides the party, and so I opened my Happy Jar and read all my happy notes during the first week of January.

To tell you the whole truth, 2017 has not been an easy year for me, because troubles have made their way into paradise. One weekend sometime last August I felt particularly down, and I took out my Happy Jar for a cheer up. I read all the happy notes that I had written that far, must have been about 40 of them at that point in time in August. I put them in their order 1 to 40, and I read all of them. It did help, and it did give me a positive boost. And that low Sunday morning, once I remembered the happy moments that happened to me this year, I realized that I'm better off if I appreciate the good things happening in my life, rather than letting myself overwhelmed by troubles in paradise, no matter how challenging they might be. I did the same thinking this January when I read all 52 of them -- even though 2017 has been a difficult year for me, positive journaling and my Happy Jar have helped me keep my spirits up. I read my 52 happy notes and I realized that a lot of amazing things happened to me this past year, not only challenges; and when I look back at 2017, I want to see and remember the happy moments that I have had, not the troubles in paradise.

Once I read my Happy Jar, I tucked it away in my home library where I keep my other old journals (because it is a journal in itself, even though it's documented in a glass jar and not in a notebook), and I started my new Happy Jar for 2018. Next December (or maybe next January 😊) I will do the same -- I will open my Happy Jar and I will see what an amazing, fabulous and happy 2018 year I have had.
I used another similar glass jar which I repurposed from my grocery shopping, and I decorated it just a little bit.
My both Happy Jars -- 2017 full of happiness and now tucked away; and 2018 with just a few happy notes in it so far, and lots of room for a lot of happiness until the end of the year

Instagram – One Year Later

I joined Instagram last year in September, so it's been a year for me in the social network that has become my favorite social media of all. Now that it's my one year anniversary on Instagram, for today's story I decided to do an overview of my Insta life, a year later. The main reason why I love Instagram so much is that it's a great source of inspiration -- many times I find myself browsing different gorgeous profiles, as well as specific hashtags that are of a particular interest to me. My favorite moment of the day to browse Instagram in search for inspiration is before bed -- I grab my phone as I am getting ready to go to sleep, I open my IG application, and I immerse into those gorgeous and amazing photos shared on Instagram.

Please don't hesitate to follow me on my Instagram page! 😊

In today's story I thought to share some of the most appreciated photos on my Instagram account during my first Insta year, but also a few of my personal favorites; and of course, the story behind each of these photos. I hope you will enjoy them. 😊
November 2016
This is the most appreciated photo on my Instagram account since its inception last September up until now, a year later. I was at work on the day when I took this photo, I went to a little shopping at Winners nearby my office during my lunch hour, and I bought these two items at Winners that day -- a box of macarons to tantalize my sweet tooth and a coffee table book to tantalize my fashion spirit. Oh I so enjoyed the macarons in the office at work that afternoon. 😊. As to the book, I actually read it now, it's currently on my night stand. I didn't make time to read it right away last November when I bought it, because I was absorbed in other books at that time, so it's only now that I got to read this book. It's called Paris by Ladurée and it's a chic city guide of all great and chic places in Paris (of course... 😊) -- shops, stores, cafes, restaurants, hot fashion spots, flea markets, museums, galleries, and many more. I went to Paris in October 2008, it's been one of my favorite vacations ever, and reading this book evoked many beautiful memories.
April 2017
This is a collection of mini-perfumes that I currently use, and these mini-perfumes are part of a perfume sampler that my husband got me as a Christmas gift last year. The purpose of such a perfume sampler is to try out a number of perfumes, 7 in this case, and then decide which of them you would like to have in the standard size (50 ml). The sampler also has a voucher, and you can purchase your chosen perfume at the same beauty counter where the perfume sampler was purchased, using that voucher, without additional cost. The mini-perfumes in my current perfume sampler are:

Signorina by Salvatore Ferragamo
Chloé by Chloé
Angel Muse by Thierry Mugler
La Nuit Trésor by Lancome
L'Eau d'Issey Pure by Issey Miyake
Eros pour Femme by Versace
Si by Giorgio Armani

I took some time to test all of these mini-perfumes -- a few months. 😊 At the time when I posted this photo on Instagram this past April, I wasn't decided which perfume I will end up choosing; but my final choice was for L'Eau d'Issey Pure by Issey Miyake later on in August.
January 2017
This is my cat Niles. He's adorable, unbelievably sweet and I absolutely love him! He's been a part of my family for almost two years now (since November 2015), after my previous cat Noire died of old age in the summer of 2015. Niles's breed is DSH -- Domestic Short Haired; while my previous cat Noire, also a black cat, was a Norwegian Forrester, with long hair.
October 2016
This is a L'Occitane shower gel with agrumes that I bought last year in October and I which I absolutely enjoyed, every single drop of it. It was quite pricey, and at higher price point than your regular bath products, but I figured we all deserve a special pampering every now and again, so I didn't regret the dollars paid for this shower gel. September is not only my Instagram anniversary, but also my job anniversary -- I started my current job last September, and this September is my one year anniversary with the company where I work now. I started my new job at the end of last September, and shortly after that I started exploring the shopping areas nearby my office where I could go during my lunch hour at work. Sherway Gardens Mall of Toronto is located near my office, and this is where I spent quite a few lunch hours over the past 12 months. One of my first shopping trips last October was the L'Occitane store at that mall, and this is when I bought this shower gel. It's an amazing product, I totally enjoyed using it, and I totally recommend it. :)
April 2017
This is a photo that I took on a Saturday morning this April -- I love quiet and relaxing weekends spent at home, and coffee and writing (be it online or offline writing) are my favorite way to start my Saturday mornings.
October 2016
I bought this book last October -- it was a great read. :) I went to Indigo bookstore at Sherway Garden Mall near my office one lunch hour last October, I browsed the fashion section, and I chose this book. I took the photo in my office at my desk later that afternoon, once I came back from my little shopping trip that day.
September 2016
These are the beauty products that I got in my Topbox monthly beauty box last September -- while I have already used up and emptied some of them, I am still using some others.
June 2017
You know you're a writer when you keep buying notebooks, even though you already have a dozen of them at home, but you can't help but buy more, just in case. I am a writer both online and offline. I bought these two notebooks at Indigo bookstore this June -- there were great sales at Indigo that day and I got them for excellent prices. I have already written one of them, the white one, while the other one, with the palm tree cover, is still blank.
October 2016
I took this picture last October -- it was a Friday afternoon, I was in my office, and I was excited for the upcoming weekend.
October 2016
Another picture that I took last October -- my book Bits of Fashion and two fashion magazines. Fashion is my world. 😊

The 10 pictured that I featured above are the most appreciated pictures by my Instagram followers, but I would like to also share a few of my personal favorites, each of them from different stages of my Instagram account this past year, and here they are:
May 2017
My red roses that my husband gifted me for the Mother's Day this past May.
December 2016
My favorite shoes -- Manolo Blahnik Something Blue satin pumps. I took this photo last December, shortly before New Year's Eve, as we were right in the midst of the holiday season. I meant to wear these shoes at the upcoming New Year's Eve party, which is exactly what I did. And then I wore them again a few days later, when my husband and I went out to have a dinner date at a restaurant one Saturday night early January.
September 2016
This is by far my favorite pool photo. 😊 I took this photo last year in September, during my last weekend trip that summer season. My family and I, along with a group of friends, spent the last warm weekend of the year at a cottage, and the weather was warm enough to allow me to spend a few hours in the outdoor pool and swim.
September 2016
Early days of my Instagram account -- I took this breakfast photo on a Saturday morning, as I was enjoying the last summer long weekend for Labour Day before school started.
September 2016
This photo is one of my first photos posted on my Instagram account. I created my IG account early September last year, on a Friday night right before the Labour Day long weekend, before I left town on an RV trip. During that long weekend for the Labour Day holiday I was busy taking and uploading photos, and starting up my Instagram profile, and this Fanta photo was one of the photos that I took during that first weekend when I had just created my Instagram account, and then shared it with the public. I prefer the European Fanta to the American one, I actually can sense the difference in taste. European Fanta is all about oranges, American Fanta is all about sugar. Then, when I came home Sunday night after that RV weekend, I published a story on my blog about my newly created Instagram profile to share it with my readers.
